6. Where would you want to be now?
"Heaven Can Wait"

7. How do you feel about love?

I generally prefer the original Gaston Leroux version, the Susan Kay novel version (except the ending), and the Andrew Lloyd Webber stage musical version.

The silent movie is the 1925 Lon Chaney version by Universal Studios. I haven't seen it in a very long time so I can't accurately rank it right now. Gaston Leroux was the French author who wrote the original Phantom of the Opera novel in 1910/1911.

If you read the book, make sure you get one of the more recent translations, such as the one by Leonard Wolf or Lowell Blair. The most common De Mattos translation is poorly done and many parts missing from the original story.

And I confess that there isn't a single Phantom film that's been made yet that's approached my idea of perfection, but I am rather fond of the 1990 one with Charles Dance, and I like some aspects of the 1989 one with Robert Englund.

I don't mind the fact that the Lloyd Webber Phantom doesn't have his origins explained. Actually I rather dislike the origins of the 1990 Phantom because they are so far off from the original canonical explanation of how Erik was born and grew up.
