Sooo..... this is my entry for 's 'Gender Bender' phanart contest.
Those of you who have not seen the Lloyd Webber stage version might be a bit lost right now. Basically, the Phantom has this mannequin of Christine that he dresses up in a bridal gown that he reveals to her when he takes her down to his lair under the Opera for the first time. At the end of the show, when they return to the lair for the finale, the mannequin is shown, sprawled on the Phantom's gothic throne-like chair, stripped of all clothing except for shoes and the wedding veil.
So, basically, I switched it so that it was a Raoul-esque groom mannequin instead... if that makes any sense... complete with his top hat and signature (strategically placed) white scarf.
Anyhow... the title is a quote is from the 'Little Lotte' song, and the design of the throne is based on the late Maria Bjornson's magnificent vision.
Thanks to for help with reference photos.
Designs copyright to Maria Bjornson and The Really Useful Group. Drawing copyright to me. Size: 8.5 x 11 inches Medium: Ballpoint pen and black Sharpie marker on watercolor paper.
I love the fact that "he" is still wearing the top hat! The expression on the face is great too... it makes it look kind of creepy. Very well done all around!

What a great concept! I wasn't holding out much hope for this contest, because I figured all the entries would just end up being (basically) pictures of Erik in a dress. Thanks for coming up with something so original!

You love him! Your fear, your terror, all of that is just love and love of the most exquisite kind, the kind which people do not admit even to themselves," said Raoul No, Christine! GO BACK TO ERIK!
Haha, yeah, I was going to do a femme version of Red Death, but seeing as I'm fresh off of Samurai Red Death from the last contest I dug a little more for something not-so-obvious and a little silly. Glad you like and thank you!
