A Post-Modern Cathedral

Description

Front and Side elevation drawings for a design cathedral I did for my Post-Modernism class. The title of the building is in honor of my impish and impious teacher, Father J. Feeney, and is German for 'The Cathedral of Feeney the Rotten' (I just thought it sounded cooler in German, no other reason, lol). The building plays off of both the medieval elements of Gothic architecture, as well as the more contemporary, sleek aspects of office buildings.

The bells are housed in the red hut-like structures on the ground while the spires (two of which are incompletely colored to show the underlying architecture of the building itself), the dome, and the apse are all constructred out of blue mirrored glass and steel. The facades are faced with dressed limestone and the entire curving surface of the roof is gilded to a frosted gold appearance. Red and purple glazed tiles are included for splashes of additional color.

Happy to say I got an A on this project :)

Pen, watercolor, colored pencil, and tempera paint over pencil sketch.

Relatively poor image quality due to digital camera distortion as it was too big to fit onto my scanner.
